Laterallus
Bird genus - Recent phylogenies show that Laterallus is paraphyletic relative to Yellow-breasted Crake (Garcia-R et al. 2014; Stervander et al. 2019). One solution is to treat Yellow-breasted Crake in its own monotypic genus Hapalocrex Ridgway, 1920 and separate out the "American Black" clade of Laterallus (which includes jamaicensis, spilonota, spiloptera, and rogersi) as Creciscus Cabanis, 1857 (Stervander et al. 2019).
